LATEST PARTICULARS OP THE MASSACRE. IMPRISONMENT OF EUROPEANS. A FORCE MARCHING TO THEIR REUBF. ("united press association.] (Received April 1, 12.30 p.m.) Calcutta, 31et Maroh. It was a detachment of the Forty-seoond and Forty-fourth Ghoorkaß which was destroyed. It is supposed that Mr. Quinton, Chief Commissioner of Assam, and the European officers are prisoners (except one who is known to have been killed), and it is feared Mr. Grimgood, British Resident at Manipur, and his wife are also prisoners. Three regiments are marohinir to their relief.
