THE MANIPUB RISING, j MASSACRE OF GHOOEKA TROOPS. I UNITED PB.IBS ASSOCIATION.] Calcutta, 30th March. Four hundred and seventy Gkoorkas and eight British officers, oommanded by the Chief Commissioner of Assam, have been destroyed while attempting to quell tho rising against the Rajah of Manipur. The Commissioner was summoned to a durbar to seoure the arrest of the robel chiefs, and the following night the camp was attaoked. The camp waß suooessfnlly defended for two days when the snpply of cartridges became exhausted. The force then became scattered. A few of the fugitives have reaohed Assam, but it is feared the remainder have been massacred. A fresh expedition from Assam has been deßpatohed against the rebels.
