THE AUCKLAND HOSPITAL ENQUIRY.

» DR. COLLINS TRAVERSES THE COMMISSIONERS' REPORT. |Bt Tblegrafh.] [.united press association.! Auckland, sth Maroh. In an interview, Dr. Collins, Medioal Superintendent of the Hospital, said he recognised that the report of the Hospital Enquiry Commissioners oonld not be the end of the affair. He certainly was not going to ait down quietly and take a Blap in the face like that. He has not yet reoeived any offioial communication on the subject. Dr. Collins was asked what he took exoeption to in connection with the report, but he said he would prefer to state all of hia objections togotber and in proper form. He took exception, however, to the remarks made eonceruiug the application of two small corks and a bandage to stop the bleeding in Berry's oase. The Commissioners stated that when the means adopted for stopping the bleeding by pressure of two corks on the main arteries and a light bandage proved meffeotive, recourse ought to have been at onoe had to more effeotive measures of controlling the hemorrhage. Dr. Collins asserts that tho applioati n of corks under the oiroumstanoes was preferable to the tourniquet. He denied that the application of corks under these circumstances waa an antiquated method of stopping hemorrhage. He maintains that he was the beat judge as to when M'Kenzie's leg shonld have been amputated. It is thought probable that the question of tbe Hospital management will be reconsidered by the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board.
