The scene was most imposing, the hall having been perfeotly arranged and beautifully decorated. '1 he ceremony was performed by Bro. E. T. Gillon, who was assisted by Bro. Vincent Pyke, M.H.R. A large choir, under Bro. H. Trist Searell, rendered the mußic. After the ceremony the degree of Past Deputy Grand Master was conferred on Bro. E. T. Gillon in recognition of his services, and that of Past Grand Seoretary on Bro. George Robertson (Wellington). The banquet held subsequently in the Hall of the Chamber of Commeroe was crowded, and the utmost enthusiasm prevailed. (From Our Special Correspondent.) Christchurch, This Dat. Tho installation ceremony was a complete success, and everything worked like olockwork. From first to last there was not a hitch. The Oddfellows' Hall waß beautifully decorated, mainly throngh the liberality and voluntary exertions of tho brethren. Ihere was a powerful choir under Bro. Searell, as organist, and the musical portion of the service was grandly given. Numerous congratulatory telegrams were received. Bro. Petprkin, of Weßtport. sent .£5 as the nucleus of tho Benevolent Fand. Bro. Dalryinple, of Masterton, sent a similar subscription, and at the banquet ,£32 additional was subscribed, and it ia likely to be considerably increased. The officers unavoidably absent were invested and installed by proclamation. The Grand Master conferred the rank of Past Deputy Grand Master on Bro. E. T. Gillon, as he would not take office, and presented him with a very handsome jewel, suitably inscribed, in recognition of his services to the oraft. Bro. Geo Robertson, of Wellington, also bad the rank of Past Grand Secretary conferred upon him. The banquet was a sumptuous one, catered for by Bro. Amyoß iv splendid style. Nearly two hundred brethren sat down. The speeches, both in tbe lodge and at the banquet, were excellent. The former are fully reported in the morning papers. Altogether the inauguration of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand has Been a complete Success, and every one seems proud arid satisfied.
