The Rugby Union annual meeting takos place to-night. At the Union meeting to-night two or three applications will, we boliovo, be made from new clubs to join tho associated body. It is to bo hoped for several roasnns that tho applications will not be granted. The number of players belonging to looal olubs has decreased since last season, but the list of olubs remains intact. Owing to want of ground tho several players do not obtain as much praotice dnring the season as they deBire, while if an increase is made in the number of clubs the grounds alloted to each must necessarily be fewer even than heretofore. If the players in question wish to perform at the Park, let them join the clubs already comprising the Union, of which there is a good ohoice. The Union Club has recognised the valuable services of Mr. Isaao Hyams, the lato treasurer, by eleoting him a life member. It is intended to make further recognition at an early date. Thfi Union Club have decided to play in Junior Cup matches only during the present season. Owing to this deoision the annual fixtures with tho Merivale and Sydonham Clubs have been abandoned. The Carterton Rivals intend to meet the Union Club at Newtown Park on Good Friday.
