A Treat for the Mount View Asylum Patients.
-^ The patients at tho Mount View Asylum received a treat last ovening which they will doubtless recollect with pleasurable feelings for many a day. For some time past a committoe of ladies, consisting of Mesdames S. C. Anderson, Moir, Finnimore, and Miss L. Shaw, have been busily engaged in making preparations for an entertainment at the Asylum, and last night the affair took place. Dancing and singing occupied the time between seven and ten o'clock, and at the latter hour tho committee, assisted by Miss Linton, the matron, and Mr. Morrison, tho head attendant, distributed avast quantity of articles from two large Christmas trees which had been prepared at one ond of the hall. The articles were both useful and ornamental, and each patient received two or three. In the majority of cases 'the attendants had previously ascertained, in an indirect way, the articles which the patients would like to possess, and great was the surprise and delight of the poor creatures upon receiving the very things which they had been longing to obtain. Some of the presents were purchased with money donated by a number of ladies and gentlemen in the city, and the remainder were given by various tradesmen. Mesdames Anderson, Moir, Finnimore, and Miss Shaw desire us to return their thanks to the donors, and to acknowledge the kind assistance rondered by Dr. King Medical Superintendent, and his staff, in carrying out the affair. Songs were contributed by Mesdames W. F. Parsons P P Webb, W. P. James, Miss Crease, Messrs. R. P. Johnson, and J. A. Todd; and the accompaniments wera played by Mrs. Cruickshank, and Misses Fairchild and Linton. Refreshments were handed round amongst the patients at 9 o'clock, and were much appreciated. Both the visitors and the staff were assiduous in their attention to the patientß, and after Dr. King had returned thanks to the ladies and gentlemen who had taken part in the entertainment, the National Anthem was sung by all present, and a very pleasant evening was brought to a olose.
