TO THE EDITOR. Sir — Undor tho abovo heading, in your last ißsue, you succeeded in twisting the good intentions of the Trade Unions and Minister of Lands into improper motives. That amusing littlo electioneering oomody, as you Btyle it, has boen under consideration for Homo timo past ; and because just now it happons to come to a head, and aotive steps aro taken , yon vory unoharitably try to make meat of it for tbo Opposition. In answer to your insinuation that thoy wero apparently solf-selocted, allow mo to remove tnat idea. As far as the reprosontativo of the boot trado was ooncornod, ho wont with the full permission and approval of that body, numbering about 200 men— a body who do not pandor to anybody ; Providonco has provided them with a powor of conception to do good, and also a way to uso it.
