A hoary thnndorstorm was experienced in this district daring the groater part of last night, and the rain Bimply poured down. Tho Manawatu is in very high flood, and a good deal of tho oountry is nndor water. Ah tho result of tho hoavy rains a largo slipooourred in Manawatu Gorge, whiob has caused tho total suspension of traffic One block of stono chuio down, which is estimated to woigh about 80 tons, and this will bo blasted. Tho eoaahos oxohango passengers at the soono of tho Blip, and communication is thus kept up, though groat inconvenience is experienced in potting- across tho obstruotion.
