Watt, browor, for selling bottlod beer without taking out a wholowalo liconso undor tho Licensing Act, 1881. The dofonco had boen that the brewers' liccnso under the Boer Duty Act, 1880, was snflloient. Mr. Ward, 8.M., did not consider tho brewer« liceiiHO entitled a browor to sell boor otherwise than in duty-stamped casks or hogsheads. He based his judgment on the decimon given by Mr. Justice Richmond in Napier in an appoal case. A fine of i! 10 wub inflicted, the Magistrate considering that dofondant hod somo colour for bin action, as thfl Customs officorH were satisfied he was right.
