Customs Revenue.
The returns of Customs revenue for the month of August show that the total duties collected amounted to .£121.052 12a 7d, aa oompared with .£149,557 0s 2d reoeived in the corresponding month hut year. At the principal ports the amounts for the two periods, 1885 and 1884, were-Auokland, £29,496 6s 7d, against .£44,997 3s ld; Wellington, £20,716 19s Bd. agaicit £22,158 13s 6d ; Lyttelton and Chiistohuroh, £17,440 6a 4d, against £16,718 13a 8d; Dunediu, £32,036 0a 9d. against £44,687 4s 7d. The beer duty for the month was £3759 Is lOd, against £3794 16s 4d in the corresponding period of 1881. Auokland contributed £825 15s lOd, as compared with £808 16a 7d in August last year ; Wellington, £343 18s, aa compared with £365 6s 6d ; Christchuroh, £810 13s lid, against £771 18s 4d; and Dunedin, £728 17s 7d, against £339 12a 7d.
