GOVERNMENT PRINTING. TO THE EDITOR.
Sir— Saturday's Evening Post says :— "Mr. Fisher is going to move for a Seleot Committee to -enquiro whether a portion, of the work now done in the Government Printing Offioo oould not advantageously be exoouted by contraot." Would it surprise you to learn that Mr. Fisher proposes to do nothing whatever of the kind P I am, Ac, Geo. Fishbr. [We are quite at a loss to understand what Mr. Fisher means. The Order Paper of tho Houso of Representatives contains the following Hotioe of motion for Wednesday : — ' ' Mr. Fisher to move, That a Seleot Committee, consisting of nine members, be appointed to inquire into the advisableness or otherwise of printing, under contraot with privato offices, any part of the printing required by the Government of the colony. The committee to have power to call for persons and papers, and to oonaist of Mr. Dargaville.Mr. Joyce, Mr. J. B. Whyte, Mr. Covan, Mr. W. F. Bnokland, Mr. Samuel, Mr. Bruce, Mr. Cadman, and the mover-, three to be a quorum; to report in a fortnight."
