Tho Chamber of Commerce have decided to acoept the offer of the Government to send a delegate from the Chamber by the Jeßsie Nicoll to the South Sea Islands. At the City Council the question of reorganising the Fire Brigade was considered, and in committee it was decided to make the brigade a paid one, and have a superintendent, two branohmen, and 1G paid members. The Council have yet to affirm this, however. At the inquest held on Donald Sinclair, who died from injuries received by a fall on board the Te Anan on the 20th, a verdict of Accidental Death was returned, Auckland, Ist June. A child of three years of age, named Aylmar, had a narrow escape from being killed on the Winton line yesterday morning. The train had pulled up to embark a family, and while they were on the carriage platform it started , and the sudden jerk threw the ohild off between the carriage and van, but the guard, with commendable alacrity, managed to piok him up before the van wheel reached him.
