THE BARQUE KENTISH LABS ASHORE.
The steamer Hnia went alongside the barqne Kentish Lass shortly aftor noon teictay, for the ' purpose of towing her up io the wharf. The barquo has been lyjnjr*,,., short distanoe from the Te Aro beach, d oharginß timber for Mesars. Stewart and Co., and tie prevailing northerly! wind appeared to drive hor vory olose in snore. However, when tho Huia got alongside to-day, and everything waa ready for a start, the wind, whioh was vory strong and iqually at the time, oa.us.ht the barque's bow, and . oan ted her round until she got broadside on. In thii position the Hnia was unable to bring her round, and the "barqne oonaoquently drifted broadside on to the beaoh, where she now lies. Fortunately the bottom is soft and sandy whero she is, and it is not thought that any serious damage will result. As the tide was high it the time it maybe tronblsßometo get the barque off. The Kentish Lass is the property of Mefcßrs. Etowart and Co.' The Huia, finding that she oould be of no further use, prooeeded on herpasMga to Wanganni.
