Chkistchurch, This Dat. Another new borough has been called into existence— that of St. Albane, which includes the populous suburbs to the north of the city, containing pome 4000 or 5000 psople. There ara already 742 ratepayers on tko roll. Yesterday the Hon. J. T. .Peacock, M.L.C., was elected Mayor without ODposition. The Fire Brigade intend to celebrate 16 th December, anniversary day, with their usual display of fireworks and a procession, in which a line of twelve tramcars will take part. The fireworks have been specially made by the firm who supply the Crystal Palace. The fallow deer recently imported by the Acclimatisation Society are to be liberated on the Calverden Run, Amuri district The weather continues most unseasonably dry. Patea, This Dat. The six-roomed cottage of Mr. Lawrence Salmon, builder, Kakaramea, was accidentally burned down last evening. The house was insured for in the Union, and j£so in the National, and the furniture for .£SO in the National. Nothing was saved.
