TIMARU. 20th July.
A swagger had a very narrow escape from being drowned in tho Opihi River this afternoon. He was swept off his legs and can ied a long way down the stream, and but for the plucky conduct of Fred. Hodge, a jockey, who jumped his horse into the flooded river, and at the risk of his life saved him, he would have been swept out to sea.
