The B.s. City of New York sailed for San Francisco at 2 30 p.m. Tho Hon. Thos. Henderson, M.L.C., was a passenger by the Tararua for South. Practical evidence that the harbor is rapidly silting up was afforded to-day. The barque Bertie, drawing 12ft 3in of water, struck at the entrance to the dock while there was 12ft 9in of water on the sill. Soundings since taken show that the channel has completely silted up, and that there is a greater depth of water inside the dock than outside. Royal Insurance Company, a claim for insurance on property of which plaintiffs are mortgagees, whioh was to be heard to-day, has not come on owing to the parties having forgotten to notify the Judge, the latter consequently not coming into town.
