AUCKLAND RACES.
(Pax Pttaa AoihotT) Auckland, 2nd January. f . /he third day's races of the Summer Meeting proved a success. The day's attendance was extremely large, the grand stand being literally packed in every part. The attendance on the course wss the largest of the meeting. Pinfire won six events during the meeting, worth £650. Ariel won the Cup, value £300. The first event was the Mares' Produce, one entry. Omega. Mr. Backland decided not to walk bis horse over, preferring rather to make the club a present of the stakes. As a substitute for this event a Hurry Scurry, of 10 soys., one mile, was improvised, which resulted as follows :— Allen's Little Dick, 1; Nobody's Gipsy, 2 ; Hodson's Derby, 3. AUCKLAND PLATB, Of 100 soys., with a sweepstakes of 3 soys. i amount accruing from sweepstakes to go to second hone. Weight for age. Distance, 2 mile*. Vallance's eh g Pinfire, 4 yrs, 9st 1 Percivsl's Tom Fin, aged, Ost 71b 2 J. Edgar's b g The Don, aged, 9st 31b ... 3 Tregeagle, Eloa, Ariel, Omega, Lady Elizabeth, and Punga were scratched. STBBPLBCH-SB, Of 150 soys., with a sweepstakes of 5 soys. Distance, 3£ miles. Butlor's Agent, 12st 71b (Hankem) ... 1 M'Gfle's Perfume, list 101b (Hodson) ... S Rutherford's Sportsman, lOat (Wilson) ... 3 Eversley, Don Juan, and Jonathan Wild also ran. Whitefoot and Cosmck were scratched. BTBWABDS' HANDICAP, Of 100 soys.. with a sweepstakes of 3 soys. One mile and a distance. VallariceV Pinfire, Ost 1 Perkios' Xantlppe , 2 Perkins' Pnnjrawerewere 3 Isaak Walton, Ghillie Callum, and Kepa also ran. Time, Smio. BJsec. Betting : Even on Pinflre, 3 to 1 agst Pungawerewere and Xantippe, 5 to 1 others. CONSOLATION HANDICAP.
