NAPIER. 29 th November.
Mr. Rees, M.H.R , has issued a writ in a libel action against the Napier Telegraph for alleged continued defamation of him. Damages are laid at £3000. 30th November. The body of a recently-born infant was found yesterday in a utensil in the bedroom of a servant girl at the Railway Hotel, Hastings. The alleged mother is one of the City of Auckland immigrants, lately arrived here. The circumstances are of so suspicious a nature that an inquest will be held to-day.
