The failure is announced of Mr. Lloyd, a flour merchant. His liabilities are stated to be £131,000, of which it is said that £117,000 is secured. Prices for maize and potatoes are increasing.

The weather was wet, but there was a fair attendance. The following is the result of the day's running : — The Shorts, three-quarters of a mile : Judge, 1 ; Chieftain, 2. Jack and Sir Andrew ran a dead heat for third place. Mr. Ivory declared to win with Judge. Thirteen ran. Time, lmin. l-7sec. — Spring Maiden Stakes, distance one mile and a-half : Roodee, 1 ; Propriety, 2 ; Duke of Linne, 3. Only three ran. The race was won easily. Time, 2min. 45sec. — Squatters' Handicap, one mile: Soothsayer, 1; Fatima, 2; The Abbess, 3. Won by throe lengths. Time, lmin. 49 4-10 sec. Nine ran.
