DUNSANDEL

FAREWELL SOCIAL,

A farewell social was tendered to Mr Frank Robinson in the Dunsandel Hall on Saturday evening by the telephone subscribers and other residents of Dunsandel. Mr Robinson has been transferred on promotion from the Dunsandel Post Office to the Leeston office. A dance was held in the main hall and cards .were played in the supper room. The music was supplied by Miss W. Mackie (accordeon), Mr Peter McLaughlin (violin), Mr B. Watson (piano) and Mr R. H. Johnston (accordeon). A presentation of a leather suitcase was made to Mr Robinson by Mr James Aldridge, who referred to the courtesy and consideration shown by the guest in the performance of his duties, to his assistance with social functions and church affairs. Mr A, S. Walker spoke on behalf of the Young People's Club and the Bible Classes. Mr Robinson thanked the people for their gift and kindnesses to him while resident in Dunsandel. CHURCH ANNIVERSARY. Anniversary services were held in the Methodist Church on Sunday. The pulpit at both services was occupied by the Rev. H. Ryan, of Riccarton. There was a good attendance at j the morning service, and a much better congregation in the evening. An anthem was sung in the morning by the choir and was repeated at the evening service by request. A second anthem was also sung in the evening. The choir was under the conductorship of Mr A. Couch, while Mr A. J. Sheat presided at the organ. The church had been nicely decorated for the occasion by the ladies of the congregation.
