DUNSANDEL

The annual meeting of the Dunsandel Bowling Club was held on Friday evening, Mr A. E. Withell presiding. The balance-sheet was adopted and considered very satisfactory. The report recorded a successful year. Friendly games had been played with the Rakaia, Allenton, Ashburton, Darfield, Hornby and Aulsebrook's Clubs. The club had been represented in the Town v. Country annual match and in the Ellesmere Association v. the Ashburton Association and the Ellesmere Association v. the Canterbury Club for the Arthur Rose Cup, by three rinks in each case, and the various rinks had been very successful in these games.

The election of officers resulted: — Patrons, Messrs" John Boag and G. W. Kime; president, Mr D. T. Wraight; vice-president, Mr L. W. Blair; secretary and treasurer, Mr K. W. The retiring president^ on vacating the chair, thanked the members of the club for the support they had given him during his term in office, and asked that the same support should be accorded his successor. Mr

Wraight thanked the members for the honour they had accorded him in electing him president, and said he would do whatever lay in his power, with the assistance of the other officers, for the good of the club. He moved a vote of thanks to Mr.Withell for the manner in which he had carried out his duties, and this was carried by acclamation.

The subscriptions were fixed at the same rates as last year: Bowling £2/2/-, and croquet 10/-.

A sub-committee consisting of the president and Messrs John Boag, G W. Kime, E. J. Chatterton, N. J. Brown, John Walker and F. Chamberlain, was appointed to go into the matter of ways and means of enlarging the bowling and croquet greens, obtain estimates of the cost of the necessary work, and report to the committee.

The resignation of Mr T. Greer was accepted with regret. A motion of sympathy with Mr Greer in his illness was passed, and he was elected a life member of the club.

Votes of thanks were passed to the ladies of the Croquet Club for their never-failing attention at the afternoon tea during the season; to the green superintendent (Mr Chamberlain) for his careful supervision; to the secretary and treasurer (Mr H. W. Johnson) for his work in the interests of the club; and to all who had in any way assisted the club during the year. Mr Boag returned thanks for his election as patron and Mr Blair thanked the members for his election as vice-president.
