SOUTHBRIDGE

GIFT EVENING TO MISS DYCE

One of the most popular young ladies in the Southbridge district, Miss Viva Dyce, was last evening the guest of members of St. James's Young People's Club and their parents at a gift function held in the Town Hall anteroom. There was a large attendance and an exceedingly enjoyable evening was 'spent, dancing and cards being the principal forms of recreation. Music for the dancing was supplied by Misses Ruby Greenwood and Joyce Beamsley and Mr D. Montgomery. At cards the most successful players were Mrs W. C. Hickman and Mr A. J. Beamsley.

In asking Miss Dyce to accept a large number of useful gifts brought by those present to assist with the furnishing of her future home, the Rev. C. L. Wilson referred to the keen interest Miss Dyce had taken in church and club activities and to the warm regard in which, she was held throughout the district. He also conveyed to Miss Dyce the sincere good wishes of all present for her future happiness.

In the unavoidable absence of Mr F. T. Parkin, the prospective bridegroom, who was away from the district, Mr A. J. Beamsley acknowledged the gifts and good wishes on behalf of his niece.

A dainty supper was served by the ladies, and the function concluded with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
