A memorial service to the late Mr David Marshall, junr., who was a member of the Killinchy Presbyterian Church and an active Bible Class member, is to be held on Sunday evening at Killinchy.
On Sunday the morning service at the Leeston Presbyterian Church will be conducted by the Methodist minister, the Rev. G. P. Hunt. The minister of the Presbyterian Church, the Rev. J. C. Young, will conduct the jservice at the Leeston Methodist Church at the same hour.
A meeting of the newly-formed Leeston Athletic Club is to be held in the Town Board chambers next Monday evening, when the first business will be the passing of a draft programme to be submitted by the programme committee. Other matters j relating to the sports meeting on Easter Saturday will be dealt with.
To-morrow night the usual popular dance will be held in the Ferry Road Hall, Christchurch, when the Palais JRoyal orchestra will be in attendance. On Monday there will be an old-time dance, for which Reg. Woods's Band will supply the music, and on Wednesday the Palais Royal orchestra will again be present, when the programme will comprise both old and new dances.
Substantial progress has been made with the building of the new Public !Library which Sir Heaton Rhodes is 'presenting to the Tai Tapu district. It lis being erected in stone on a site adjacent to the beautiful church in mejmory of the late Lady Rhodes, which was recently consecrated. The walls are rising steadily and already it is apparent that the library will be a very fine building.
