SCHOOL AFFAIRS.
At the last meeting of the Brookside School Committee, the inspector '& report was received. The committee considered it to be one of the best presented in the history of the school. On the proposal of the chairman, Mr T. W. Brooks, a hearty vote of thanks was Nassed to the teachers for the excellent manner in which they had brought the children thrdigh the year's work. ■ Last Saturday* the annual picnic held at Rhodes Park, Tai Tapu, where an enjoyable day was spent. Several races were contested by the children. Every child received a prize in money after the races, and toys were distributed among the infants under school age; The committee is grateful to those who kindly lent their cars to convey the cildren to and from TaiTapu. On Friday next, December 16, the annual break-up concert is to be given in the school, at which the prizes will be distributed. The children are to be responsible for most of the items given, and a large attendance is hoped for.
