WOMENS DIVISION OF THE FARMERS’ UNION.

The local branch of the Womens Division of the Farmers Union is to hold a Bring & Buy sale in the Town Hall on, May 21st, at 2 30 p.m. The sale is being organised in aid of the Plunket Society. Poolburn-Moa Creek Branch Owing to the inclement weather, the attendance at the meeting of the Poolburn-Moa Creek branch of the WD.F.U. held on Tuesday, May 7th, was very poor. The motto, chosen by Mrs D. McDonald, was “Love many, trust a few; learn to paddle your own canoe.” The roll call was Inpromptu Speeches. It was decided to hold the Winter meetings at 2 o’clock. After afternocn tea, members were entertained by having their cups read The senior competition, “The best arranged jar of Autumn leaves, ’ was won by Mrs Rae, and the winner of the junior competition, “The best plain sponge cake,” was Miss I. Harrex. The hostesses were Mrs Rae & Mrs McEwan.
