In the House last week Mr Bodkin. M.P. urged the Govtto immediately proceed with the work of placing weirs at Lakes Haweaand Wanaka. Mr Bodkin also pointed out that there was a great asset awaiting development in the deep lead between Clyde and St. Bathans. We were shown this morning a very nice specimen obtained from the Blackman’s disirict. It was a small piece of rotten rock with a nugget of gold embedded in it. Under the Govt, scheme men are daily being sent to this district, and there is room for many more. The Molyneux is still high, but is steadily falling.
