HOCKEY

The annual meeting of the above held on Friday last was presided over by Mrs Hanning, there being an attendance of thirty. The balance-sheet showing a credit balance of £24 was read and adopted. The election of office-bearers resulted as under: President, Mrs C- Hanning Sr. (re-elected); a Vice -‘presidents, Mrs McArthur, Messrs W. K, George and A. Wilson; Secretary, Miss M. Hanning, (reelected) who received a vote of thanks for past services; Committee, Messrs W. Gye, O’Connell, H. Stevens, S. A. Stevens, Mesdames Wood, Wilson, W. K. George, H. E. Stevens, Annan and Hanning JnrDelegates to Sub-Assn. Messrs A. Wilson, and H- E. Stevens; Sole Selector, Mr A. Wilson. The supscription was fixed at 5/- Hon. members and 2/6 playing members. It was decided to procure badges, same to be different colour to last year. The opening practice was fixed for Saturday 12th April Grounds Committee — Messrs A. Wilson, W. K- George, W Gye, J. O’Connell and H. E. Stevens. The charge for the gate for non-members was fixed at 6d. Mr George proposed that this season the team go to the Milton tournament Seconded by Mr Wilson and carried. A vote of thanks was passed to the president for her valued services last year. The Centre meeting is to be held at Clyde on Thursday, 10th AprilANYUAUL REPORT. On tlie occasion of flic tenth Annual Meeting of the Clyde Hockey, Club the Committee has much pleasure in presenting a report of yet another successful Season. The Club had a membership of 99 members, an excellent team and good public support, all of which made the season the success it was. The team had hard luck in only tying for second place with the Alexandra High School for the coveted Bodkin Cup and extends its congratulations to the winning Alexandra Team Twelve games were played during the season, winning nine, losing two and drawing one. In June a team was entered at the Dunedin Sevcn-a-sidc Tournament where it played some splendid games but could not manage to bring home the trophy. The Club was well represented at each of the three Tournaments, Vincent, Maniototo and Tuapekaand the Team not only played splendid hockey but succeeded in doing the “hat” trick by carrying off the first trophies at each one. To remind them of their, winning “Laurels” the Club had much pleasure in presenting each member of the seven a-sidc team with an enlarged framed photo of the group. Four Vincent Reps -were picked from the team of which we are justly proud and these same four players had the honour of being chosen in the Central Otago Team. Several dances were held during the Season which were successful, socially and financially. The Vincent Tourna ment held in Clyde was an absolute success and the Clubs’ sincere thanks and gratitude is extended to the Committee who worked so willingly and conscientiously during this day and also by running the Tea Rooms at the Football Tournament which raised the Club’s funds considerably. The Club extends thanks and appreciation to Messrs. George and Wilson, who as Delegates to the Snb-Assoeiat ion looked after the affairs of the Club in every way and whose valuable assistance in refereeing was greatly appreciated, also to Messrs Wilson, Annan Lopdcll, McArthur, and President for gratuitiously assisting with their cars, in conveying players to the various fields and Mr 11. E Stevens for auditing the books. To its loyal lady supporters the Club extends appreciation and thanks for their %alnable assistance at afternoon teas and social Inactions throughout the year and to the Residents in and around Clyde tor their loyal support.
