PERSONAL.
At the Vicarage last Tuesday Mrs Pywell gave a kitchen afternoon to Miss Bell Me Arthur (who is to be married to Mr Geoff Taylor on Tuesday, 22nd inst,) when the guests numbered about fifty. It was a very happy afternoon- The gifts, a very useful lot, were remarkable for the fact that there was not a single duplication. Tire next day Miss Wilkinson gave a handkerchief afternoon for Miss McArthur, another happy function resulting.
The ‘Tapanui Courier’ says Mr W. Rutherford, Clyde, who has purchased Mr Poison’s “Lynhope” property at Tapanui, took possession at the beginning of the month.
Mr A. Hicolson of Moa Creek, was among the successful applicants at the ballot for the Wilden Settlement. He drew section four, for which there were forty eight applicants.
Prior to their departure for Dunedin, Mr Mrs and Miss Waters were farewelled, when they were the recipients of several presentations. Amongst the gifts were a leather bag, Crystal bowl, vases, dishes, and a string of pearls. Several speakers expressed regret at their departure, and sincere wishes for the future welfare of the Waters family was extended.
