One Mile Trot—Rose Queen 1, Free Pointer 3, Jolm Appear 3. Farewell Hc’p—Taboo 1, Topere 2, Chickwheat 3. It is reported that Mr R. Mee of Becks, purchased the 5 year-old gelding Fair Exchange (Paper Money-Fair Flight) from Mr G. Guard on the morning of the Oamaru second day’s races. The price paid being £2OO. The gelding was not long in returning some of the purchase money, as he won the Windsor Handicap of £llO, the same day. Silver Thread has 7st. 11 lb. in the Tycho Hack Hc’p of 125 sovs., 7 furlongs at Timaru on Thursday. All started in the Dash Saddle Trot, for which Musso'ini was again made a good favourite, carrying more than twice as many investments on his chance as Otaio Rose, Great Scott, or Nor’-wester, who were evenly backed, with the bracketed pair John Appear and Rose Queen next in demand. The latter began very smartly and soon showed out a dozen lengths in front of Aviatrix and t athe end of two furlongs the favourite ran up into third place. At the far turn Rose Queen was ten lengths clear of Mussolini, with Aviatrix and Free Pointer next. Missolini stopped to a walk in the run down the straight, and Hose Queen ran home an easy winner by four lengths from Free Pointer, with John Appear a similar distance away third. Great Scott and Otaio Rose were next.
