GOLF

The annual tournament of the Roxburgh Club, which has become very popular, mainly because of the splendid links, has been arranged for September the sth, 6th and 7th. Last Saturday th« Balelulha Club, represented by a dozen players had a friendly game with Roxburgh. The links were in capital order and the weather perfect. Roxburgh, won seven matches, Balclutha won two and three were drawn.

—Clyde beat Cromwell— That k every dog has his day is just as true in Golf as anything else, was proved on Saturday by the Dunstan Club turning the tables on Cromwell by 7 games to 2 and one all square. The Cromwell Ladies were again too strong for Clyde winning 3 and halving one out of four. The day was an ideal one for Golf and the links in good order- President Bould srave the visitors a cordial welcome. Mr J. C. Parcel! in replying congratulating Clyde on their win. Cheers were exchanged and three hearty ones for the ladies for the ever welcome cup of tea and eatables. Lopdell beat E> Jolly 3 and 2. Miller and McDonald all square. W. K. George beat Schieb 3 and 2. Davidson beat McNatty 3 and 2. Brokenshire beat H .C. Bilton 9 and 8.

Warhurst beat J. C Parcell 2 up. Robertson beat Stephens 5 and 3.

Horlow lost to Stumbles [2 down

Bouia lost to Smith 4 and 3. Mrs W. K. George lost to Mrs Patciscn.

Alexandra succeeded in holding the "Dewar Cup." against Roxburgh, winning 5, squaring 2, ana losing 1 game. Alexandra comes to Clyde next Saturday. Lady members are reminded small heels are not allowed on the links.

All members to replace their divots or smooth down the sides with the foot.
