Monday 18th Obituary. The death is reported in Dunedin of Mrs Wescott (a sister of Mrs W.' Sutherland of Clyde, and Mr D. Corson cf Bannockburn. Serious Fires A fire atLambton Quay, Wellington, did damage to several shops, the damage being estimated at several thousand pounds. At Invercargill on Saturday night a fire in Reid & Grays did damage estimated at £3OOO. “Doing his best” In the Auckland Court a man the father of seven illegitimate children, was up charged with failing to provide for them. His defence was that he was doing his best. Racing At the Wellington races the big race was won by Nukumai. Fairy Herald and Sun Up were also winners. Fatalities. The body of an unknown man was found floating in the Wellington harbour yesterday. Cricket The New Zealand team is playing a Civil Service side.
