LAND BALLOT.

Thirteen sections in Crown Lands in the Manuherikia Setltement (between Clyde and Alexandra) were balloted for last Thursday. There were 32 applicants, but rejections (women whose husbands were applicants and others who failed to put in an appearance) reduced the number to 20. Of these 14 were returned soldiers or other preference applicants.
