FRUITGROWING.

Some of the Central Otago orchard ists have been and still are feeling the blow that was dealt them by the October hailstorms and frosts. The stone fruit trees in the Alexandra district suffered badly, and the Teviot orchardists lost in pip fruit- The season has tested the combative resources of all and the visitation was severe upon the minority, who are not strong financially. Nevertheless there is no general dismay, nor do we hear of many men giving up the fruit growing business. The lesson seems to be that it calls for knowledge and incessant attention, and that with these aids, plus the money to enable a person to wait till Nature matures the trees, the occupation is as hopeful as ever- ‘Star' -
