Monday 27th, Double Tragedy at Christchurch A shocking double tragedy occurred at Christchurch yester day when Fredk. Chas. Davis, 36, murdered his wife Edith Dav’a; by cutting her throat with a razor. He then took his own life. The only fresh evidence in the other Christchurch tragedy is the finding of blood-stained rags and an overcoatCricket New Zealand has won the last two matches—by 10 wkts, and by an innings and 3 runs. In the latter game Blunt made 195 and Lowry 95. In the match at Glasgow Scotland made 234 first strike, but the match had to be abandoned owing to rain. , Football. In the first soccer test match played at Dunedin on Saturday Canada and New Zealand drew two goals each. There were 8,000 spectators. At Rugby, Otago beat South Otago by 28 to 0. Varsity beat North Otago by 20 to 3. Coursing. The Boyle Challenge Cup was won by Mr Mathewson’s Grand Slam. Running. The cross country championship, run at Wingatui,on Saturday, was won by J. W. Tapp, of the Caversham Harriers.
