EARNSCLEUGH.
A very wild winter has been experienced and spring is being ushered in with very seasonable weather. Fog has been conspicuous by its absence and conditions generally have been pleasant for everybody. Fruitgrowers are pushing forward their pruning and spraying operations while-the fine weather prevails. The Govt Instructor has promised to give an addrees Sprays and _ Spraying at Earnscleugh on Saturday'evening next. A local orchardist (Mr W. - Hinton) retui ned last week from a holiday* visit to Victoria "and New South Wales where he spent some time among the -fruitgrowing areas. The erection of the Public Hall is now almost completed and -the Committee have decided to have the opening ceremony on Wednesday IstjSeptember The building has come in for a good deal of favorable comment from visitors from other parts and the local residents arc miturually pleased to have snch a line building in their midst. The committee and builder are to be congratulated on the enterprise and enthusiani with which they entered into the project. A bazaar will be held on opening £day and the ladies arc at present preparing for the various stalls. The admission on opening and evening will bo free and being Earnsclcugh Red letter day the crowds from all parts of the surrounding districts can de promised a real enjoyable outing and incidentally assist in the auspicious event. The local football team has had a very successful season for a young team and it is to their credit that they finished up runners up for the shield being defeated by Alexandra in the play off.
