The Grand National meeting provided an excellent days sport. The little fancied Peter Maxwell (Marble Arch-Jena) won the Grand National Steeplechase, with Kawini second and Charlatan third- Lc Choucas (Magpie-Kiki) ridden by R. S. Bagby was favourite, and duly the Winter Cup from Civility and Nippy, Sun Up was fourth. The totalisator put through £64,330 a, compared with for the first day last year. President Handicap Trot U miles open to horses owned”in the 4 Counties. Ist £l2 2nd £2 3rd £l. Owned 3 months previous to Meeting. Race 5. Publican Cup, If miles open Ist £l3 2nd £3 3rd £l.
