CORRESPONDENCE.

To the Editor

Sir, It is many moons since Mr Proudfoot promised to send in the proceeds of the concert and dance which" was held at Ophir on Sept 23rd i9 2I » but so far has failed in his duty" as secretary. Why was not a public meeting held to wind it up, instead of doing things in cameraBefore concluding 1 would ask Mr Proudfoot to toe the mark without palaver or perterbationI am etc Anxious Ophir, Dec 15th.

/ To the Editor

Sir, The residents of Ida

Valley and Poolburn have long suffered from the want of a Public Hall- There is now some talk of making a move in the matter and I believe generous support could be obtained from both districts. I would suggest that a Public meeting be called; building committee formed, and that say Mr Win. Nicholson who was contractor for many years, be asked to supply sketch and specifications. Prices could then be obtained from builders in the i district- Tf this were done without delay the building would be available for the coming winterI am etc, > Wellwisher. Poolburn, Dec- 15th.
