THE COURTS.
Magistrates Court, Alexandra. Before Mr H. J. Dixon, S.MH. J. Buchanan was convicted and fined £1 and costs on a charge of negligently riding a motor cycle in Alexandra on November 28th,j and on a charge of riding an unregistered motor he was ordered to pay costs- The Magistrate remarked that but for the fact that defendant had suffered heavy loss through damage to his motor cycle he would have inflicted a heavier penalty. J. D- Best, clothier, was convicted and fined £2 and costs for keeping open his premises on August 9th, the statutory half holiday at AlexandraH. Hesson v. H. M< McKay (Hawea) a claim of some £BO for motor garage charges. Mr W. A. Bodkin appeared for plaintiff and Mr Aspinall, of Dunedin, for defendant. After hearing lengthy evidence the amount of the claim was reduced by £l2.
