LUCERNE.
Among the numerous items that require the farmer's attention during the month of October there is one that should not be omitted on any account where the land is suitable, and 1 that is the establishing of an area of lucerne, or it may be tbje increase of the already established 1 pilot. There is probably not an instance on record! of a farmer having succeeded 1 m establishing this plant and afterwards regretting it. On the contrary, an initial success almost invariably begets enthusiasm, and the numerous letters 1 have received from farmers whom I have induced to give lucerne a trial amply confirm this contention.
