OPHIR CARD CLUB.
Ater a most successful seasjn the Ophir Card Club brought their Progressive Euchre Tournament to a close on Friday, October 6th. Cards occupied the early part of the evening a keen contest resulting in the following winning the special prizes awarded by the club: First lady, Miss M. Petersen; second lady, Mrs Mcßae ; first gent, Mr.Thompson ; second gent Mr C\ McGarry, and the booby prizes were won by Mrs S. Lei sk and Mr A Corrigall. The room was then cleared for dancing, which was indulged in by a large number until the early hours of the morning, the music being supplied by Miss A Mcßae (piano) and Mr T. Truesdale (violin). During the eyon}ng Mr L Smith presented the prizes for the highest points scored during the season the winners being Mrs Wroblenski lady) Miss M. Whyte (second lady) Mr J. Wroblenski (first gent), Mr J. J. Stafford (second gent), and the booby prizes were awarded to Mrs S, Leask and Mr T. Scott. Mr Hagan took the nity of thanking the ladies for the way they had added to the enjoyment by providing a sumptuous supper and the club desires to thank all those who donated prizes. The total receipts were £lO 4s, expenditure £8 12 3, and the balance of £1 ii 9 will be donated to the |ocal scjiool committee. I—From 1 —From our own correspondent.
