—*. — The deputation appointed to wait on the Hospital Board on Wednesday last, for varioGs reasons, dwindled down to one, Mr W. Sutherland being the only one to put in an appearance. However, his request for accommodation at the Dunstan for fernalp T- B r patients was well put, and fell on sympathetic ears, the Bpard unanimously deciding to get estimates and particulars from the Health Department- Dr Turnbull also stressed the necessity for shelters for females, and. he pointed out one aspect of the question which is of considerable importance. He mentioned that female T. B- patients had been treated in tents at the local institution, but was strongly of opinion that this was not in the interests of either the patients themselves or of the hospital staff- The essential therefore was something in the nature of an adpiinistratiye block where everything could be done excepting the actual cooking of the food- The Chairman in a sympathetic reply to the deputation, agreed that it was an impossible position at present, when they had to refuse admission to unfortunate female sufferers, and he quoted cases to show the urgent need for the erection of additional shelters.
