OMAKAU.
The weather conditions have during the past week been idealFine days following the rain of a fortnight ago have resulted in a good growth of grassThe local tennis enthusiasts have been busy preparing the court of late, and with several new members the club is looking forward to a successful seasonA long felt want is now about to be satisfied. 1 refer to the erection of a tea room at the railway station. The Railway Depthas leased a site to Mr J. W. Smith (late of Clyde) and Mr J. McKnight has been entrusted with the work of building, which has been commenced. Before long a cup of tea, etc-, will be available for the travelling public, and it is to be hoped that Mr Smith will be accorded liberal support in his enterprise. The Matakanui Tennis Club is at present organising a bazaar to raise funds for an asphalt tennis court, and report liberal donations of all saleable materials. Several local residents are making application to the P. & T- Department for telephones, and Mr C- L. Caldwell's residence was connected with Omakau office by telephone last week. Go ahead Omakau !
