Friends of Mr J- Faulks, of Pembroke, will learn with interest that his sporting tour in the heart of Africa is proving a successful and pleasant experience. By latest accounts his base camp was at Elizabethville, on the Belgian Congo, and he expects to return to New Zealand early in December: — Argus- • • • » • Mr Ritchie of Bannockburn, who is coming out for Wakatipu seat at the general election in the Reform interest, paid a visit to Queenstown in the middle of the week- He met, informally, quite a number of the party's supporters, and created a good impression among them.: — Wakatipu Mail- • • • • • A marriage of no little local interest took place at Wellington last week, the contracting parties being Mr George Larking, the popular host of the Commercial Hotel, Clyde, and Miss M. Smith, the wellknown commercial traveller, is about to supply travellers on the Central with a long felt want—i. e., the opportunity of obtaining refreshments at Omakau- A suitable building is in course of erection. • • • # • Mr Goodwin, orchard instructor is at present in the district. • • • « • Mr Pratt registrar of electors for Wakatipu is at present visiting this end of the electorate, appointing returning officers, etc. • • » • • The death is reported at the Cromwell Hospital on Saturday night of Mrs Robt- Toms of Bannockburn. Much sympathy is expressed for the husband and four young children who are left to mourn their loss.
