CORRUPTION OF POLICEMEN.
"Fifty per cent of my force—or about 2,500 men—are more or less implicated in bootlegging." said the Chief of Chicago's police in a statement presented last September. He added "Prohibition is not a fact but a fallacy, and this applies not only to Chicago but to every city of whieh I have knowledge. In Chicago there is more drunkenness than ever there was—more deaths from liquor than before Prohibition—more of every evil attributable to the use of liquor than in the days before the so-called Prohibition laws became effective.''
