HALL FOR EARNSCLEUGH.

The question that has been exercising the minds of the people of Earnscleugh for some years past is to find sufficient accomm - odation for dancing for the growing local population and the visitors from both Clyde and Alexandra- The want was particularly apparent during the war period when a great many successful functions were celebrated being only marred by insufficient accomodation. 'One and all have now come to the conclusion that the time is now ripe for a determined effort to achieve the object, namely a hall for Earnscleugh. With this object in view a meeting was convened by Mr 'Chas- Weaver, for July 10th. when a very representative, and enthusiastic, meeting was held. Practically every person present spoke in favor and gave their unanimous support to the project the following motion being unanimously carried: That this meeting of residents of Earnscleugh approve of the idea of building a Hall, .and that a Committee of seven members be set up_ to go into the question and bring forward proposals and data for a further public meeting later on for consideration. The following Provisional Committee being appointed: — Mr Chas- Weaver (Chairman), E. J. Iversen, R- Kinnaird, A- W- Edwards, E- W. White, M. P- McGinnis and C Mclntosh, (Secretary). After fully considering the question the Committee bring forward the following suggestions: Site: — Several sites were considered, but two are recommended: one adjoining ihe Earnscleugh Bridge and one near the School- Proposed size of Hall Dancing space 30 x 30ft, Stage 19 x 19ft with dressing rooms and kitchen according to detailed plan- Finance: — It is recommended to appoint a Finance •Committee on which there should be several ladies as a means of raising money. A Garden Fete and Art Union are recommended. . A further public meeting is to be held on Monday August 7th when all interested are invited to attend, ladies being specially welcome. Wc wish to make it clear that we can and will build a Hall, if the Community back up the effort that is now being made im that direction-
