PERSONAL.
The many friends of Mr T. O’Connor (a couple of years ago mine host of the Hartley Arm* Hotel, Clyde, but now of Waipiata) will learn with regret of the untimely death of his wifeAbout a month ago Mrs O’ Connor underwent a serious operation, from which she did not recover, passing away at Dunedin on Friday last. The death is reported of Mr Manson senr., a very old and highly respected resident °f • Bannockburn. It is reported that Mr Levvey S-M., is to be transferred to Gisborne, and that Mr Dickson (a new appointment) is to come to this district. The catching fire of a tin of fat resulted in three people being rather badly burned at Earnscleugh Station on Saturday morning. It appears that the fat caught fire in the oven and that a bucket of water was thrown over it- The inevitable result was that the room was immediately enveloped in flames, those present (Mr and Mrs Drummond and a man named Duncan) all being badly burned about the face and arms-
