CROMWELL.
(From our own correspondent.) The abnormally mild spring weather in midwinter still continues and the outlook for a good water for mining next summer is not reassuring) The snow is disappearing fast off the ranges, consequently the river is high for the time of the year, and interferes seriously with the gorge dredges. The Electric i is on very rich ground and had another magnificent return last week. As the dredge is working into the bank the high river does not interfere much. Should the Ohura Syndicate strike the same body of rich wash with the boring rods it would be of incalculable benefit to them and the district. I think it would be safe to predict that 'Shine 2 will not be finished for another month. Serious delays in forwarding necessary material is responsible for the length of time of completion. The erection of the long elevator on the Rising Sun and the erection of the machinery is about completed and the dredge will be ready to make another im #out Tb»r^»
