FOOTBALL.
(Bv “Dkop-kick.)
“Full-back” in the Otago Daily Times is advocating that the Rugby Union should send a visiting team of footballers round the Goldfields this year. This question is one that was raised at the annual mooting of the local sub-union and is a proposal that footballers and football followers on the Goldfields will mostly approve of—provided the team sent is one of Otago’s best. The pick of the town players competing against the Vincent boys would be a big draw for country enthusiasts, and should be a big stimulant to country football. I would suggest as a r good programme (if the tour eventuates) for Vincent County the following : Against the Northern Clubs at Cromwell ; against the Southern at Alexandra ; and against a Vincent team at Clyde. The Clyde team had a very useful p>rac tice on Saturday afternoon, some good form being shown. Several of the younger places shaped pleasingly, and altogether the Red and Blacks should bo well in the running for premier honours this season. The Clyde team journey to Bannockburn on Saturday, to try cohculsions with the term there. The first flag match of the season took place at Cromwell on Saturday, when Lowburn and Cromwell played. A most interesting and even match resulted in Cromwell winning by 6 to 4,
Iu consequence of the inclusion of the Bannockburn Club in the Flag matches the fixtures have had to be re-arranged and will now be played as under:
