DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

The regular monthly meeting of the trustees was held on Wednesday last. Present - Messrs W. R. McKean (chairman), F. Jeffery, S, Stevens, J. Smart and H. Burmeister The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence—From Naseby Hospital Committee embodying a demand for dues £2 for maintenance of a patient supposed to have been a resident of this Hospital District. Resolved—That the letter be returned. The Trustees declining to recognise any liability, the man never being known to have resided in Vincent County for six months continuously. From Mr Pollock, Manager of Molyneux Coal Pit, accompanied by Subscription List and From Nurse Hanann acknowledging a case of fruit for Hospital use from Mr D. Smart.

The Visiting Committee reported everything in and about the Institution as being well. The Surgeon reported . —No of Patients in Hospital Ist April, 5, No of Patients admitted during the month —, Number discharged 2, number remaining on 30th April 3, The surgeon embodied a strong recommendation for the building of an Isolation Ward to meet such cases as Erysipelas (2 cases last month), Typhoid (1 case now in the hospital) and Diptheria, which is reported to be in the district. The Secretary was instructed to write to Dr Valentine, the Inspector general of hospitals and Head of the Public Health Department on the matter, and asking for a reply prior to the coming meeting of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board so that the question could be then discussed.

The Treasurers report showing liabilities, including last months accounts, £l6O-2-11, and assets £sl-8-1 was read and received. ~ Accounts for salaries and supplies for the past month £57-12-6 were passed for payment. The Sub-committee appointed to draw up the annual requisition to the Hospitals and Charitable Aid Board reported that the requirement for the year would be £350 odd. Resolved -That the report be adopted and that the requisition be made in due form. The meeting then closed.
