Blacks Plumpton Coursing Club.

The second annual fixture of the above club, held on Thursday and Friday of last week, provided an excellent couple of days spurt, although the weather, especially on the lirst (lay, was decidedly unfavourable. The hares were in splendid condition, indeed one well-known Dunedin spurt remarked that they were the strongest lot he had seen at any plnmptun in the colony, and in a groat number of the runs had a good deal the best of it. Diamond Gift led up and turned, and after a short course the hare reached the escapes. Wild Pern and Loch Erin were slipped on a hare which doubled back. Loch Erin led slightly and Wild Fern killed, and the judge signalled an undecided course. In the run which followed Loch Erin led up by 8 or It) lengths and did most of the work in a good course till the hare escaped. Challenge Sweepstake of ,C2 each. First Round. Mr F. Lieutenant Bill lead Tonic and scored twice before the latter got in and worked off some of the score. Lieutenant Bill had possession for another turn hut Tonic scored again and spoilt Iris chance of a win by killing. Dentist and Erin wore signalled an undecided on a short run. In the second try a good hare led all the way to the barricade, Erin having the best of the lead by about twenty lengths. The hare came out again and returned to the slips and then back again to the escapes, its return to safe quarters being applauded by.tire onlookers. F.riir did the hulk of the work in a gruelling course and scored an easy win. County Stakes of £1 each. First Bound. Messrs Baird and Dagg’s Dorothy Douglas beat Mr D. Sinnamon’s Archie. Mr G. Field’s Field Battery heat Mr W. Harley’s Black Jack. Messrs Baird and Dagg’s Bran boat Mr G. Donnelly’s Spider. Mr W . MeNaugliton’s Glen Iris heat Mr C. Hnddlestone's Sum' cr. Messrs Baird and Dagg’s Bendemeer heat Mr F,. Brown’s Lyddite Queen. Mr Johnson’s Fishy heat Mr W. Brady’s May Bloom.. Mr - D, Gunns Varrclove heat Mr F. Dunlop’s ()phir Lad. Mr W. Brady’s Larracor heat Mr- H. Francis’ Tommy Atkins. Dorothy Douglas led up Archie on a short course and turned, Archie gui, in and killed. Field Battery pulled out of the slips and went on alone and killed. In the second slip, Field Battery had a good lead from Black Jack, doing most of the work on a long course till the hare got through the escapes. Field Battery fenced the enclosure in great style arid killed the hare inside. Bran led up and killed heating Spider pointless. Glen Iris Jed Smoker by six lengths on a short course and won easily. Lyddite Queen got out of the slips and killed. Bendemeer got fastest away in the next run increasing Iris lead to about I- lengths and doing all the work till the kill Fishy led May Bloom by two lengths to the turn when May Bloom got in for a couple of wrenches. Fishy then gave her the go-hye and kept possession till May Bloom killed. \ancleve got the best of the start from Gphir Lad hot the hitter gained a little in a short run up. Ophir Lad killed too soon losing all chance of making up the score against him. Larracor led Tommy Atkins by a hare length to the hare and turned, fairly even work following till the kil’. Maiden Stakes—Second Bound. Diamond Gift heat May Bloom, scoring heavily on the lead up, and doing most of tiie work after the turn till the kill. Loch Brin a bye.

Loch Erin beat Diamond Gift and won the stake.

Loch Erin led by a short length on a long course, turning near the enclosure, ami having the best of the work which ensued till the hare escaped. Challenge Stake.—Second Bound.

Lieutenant Bill heat Lady Molly. Erin a bye. Lieutenant Bill led up Lady Molly by about a length and wrenched. Splendid close work followed, both dogs keeping well mi (be tfsuiH*, Lieitlfiiinjif. &iU paving

a little the best of it till the hare escaped. Lieutenant Bill and Erin divided the stake.

County Stakes—Second Round. Field Battery beat Dorothy Douglas, Bran beat Glen Iris. Bendemeer beat Fishy. Laracor beat Vancleve. Field Battery got badly away, but beat Dorothy Douglas in the lead-up on a long course, then doing all the work and killing. Bran led Glen Iris up on a short run and got in two turns before the latter scored. Glen Iris then got in and rubbed oil a good hit of the score, hut Bran had regained possession when the hare reached the escapes. Bendemeer led up by about four lengths from Fishy, and scored a couple of turns. Fishy then got in, but Bendemeer gave him I he go-by and killed. Larracor led Vancleve by half a length, doing the bulk of the work till the kill.

Semi-final. Bran beat Field Battery. Bendeemeer beat Larracor. Bran was unsighted and Field Battery led up by about 50 yards. Bran gave him the go by and gained nearly all the points till the kill, scoring a clever win. Bendemeer bung in the slips but passed Larracor in tbo lead-up and turned, when the latter killed. Bendemeer and Bran divided the stake. Supplementary Sweepstake. For beaten dogs at Cl. First, C 4 ; second, £2 ; and two dc*g« at .Cl. First Round. May Bloom beat Smoker. Wild Fern beat Dorothy Douglas. Glen Iris beat Fishy. Ophir Lad beat Vam-ieve. May Bloom led Smoker to the game. Even work followed for a time till May Bloom killed. Wild Kern led Dorothy Douglas by about four lengths on a poor bare and killed after a short course, beating the latter almost pointless. Glen fris led Fishy by about 20 lengths and won easily. Vaneleve led slightly on a short course. Ophir Lad gave him the go-by at the turn and wrenched and killed. Second Bound. Wild Fern beat May Bloom. Glen Iris beat Ophir Lad. Wild Fern led May Bloom on a good bare, working a couple of turns and falling before May Bloom got in, taking a turn when the hate escaped. Glen Iris led Ophir Lad by six lengths and killed on the first wrench beating the latter pointless. Final. Glen Iris beat Wild Fern. Glen Iris led Wild Fern on a short run, the latter seeming a trifle stale. Glen Iris bad the best of the work and scored a good win.
